Documentary to be shown October 2

MANSFIELD, PA— A screening of the documentary Madame Madame PresidentaPresidenta: Why Not U.S.?, followed by a question and answer session with documentarian Heather Arnet, will be held at Steadman Theatre on Thursday, October 2 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The documentary follows Arnet, who is CEO of the Women and Girls Foundation, to Brazil in 2013 after Brazilians had elected their first female president in 2010. She interviews Brazilians about the significance of the election and seeks to understand what Americans can learn from the Brazilian experience.

“We’re very excited to welcome Heather Arnet to campus at this time, especially given Hillary Clinton’s likely run for president in 2016,” Jonathan C. Rothermel, assistant professor of Political Science said. “As we approach the midterm elections, the documentary will serve as a reminder of how under-represented women are in politics today.”

The event is sponsored by the MU Political Science Club and the Student Activities Office. It is supported by student activity fees.
