Tioga County First Responders Scholarships Awarded

MANSFIELD, PA— Four Mansfield University students are the firstMembers of the Mansfield University Foundation Board and the Tioga County Commissioners with scholarship recipients Brad Boyce, Chad Daugherty and Laura Young. Breyann Campbell was not available for the picture. recipients of the Tioga County Board of Commissioners Volunteer First Responders Scholarship.

Brad Boyce, Chad Daugherty and Breyann Campbell, who volunteer with the Wellsboro Fire Department, and Laura Young from the Morris Fire Department received the scholarship, which was established by the Tioga County (PA) Commissioners to provide financial assistance to volunteer firefighters and other emergency services personnel.

“I want to thank the Tioga County Commissioners for their support of our Tioga County students who are already giving back to their community and want to pursue their education at MU,” President Fran Hendricks said. “I also want to express my appreciation to Lindsey Sikorski, our director of Community Engagement, Government and External Relations, for her work with the Commissioners in making this a reality, and the Mansfield University Foundation for their support of this effort.”

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be a Tioga County resident who is a full-time student majoring in Nursing, Criminal Justice, Biology, Geography/Geology, Safety Management or natural Gas Production Services. Applicants also must have an active status as a volunteer first responder (firefighter and EMT personnel) and meet certain academic requirements.
