MANSFIELD, PA— Roy Stewart has been named Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mansfield University.
Stewart has a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois and more than 45 years of experience in higher education.
His experience includes 30 years with the State System in Pennsylvania, having served at Slippery Rock University and Lock Haven University in various roles including associate dean of Arts and Sciences, dean of Graduate Studies and Research and provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.
“Dr. Stewart’s extensive experience with the State System is critical to moving MU forward while the Provost search is underway,” MU President Fran Hendricks said in making the announcement. “I will rely heavily on his leadership in meeting the challenges and opportunities ahead for Mansfield University.”
The national search to fill the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs position is underway. Hendricks anticipates having the new Provost in place before the beginning of the 2015/16 academic year.
