MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University staff, faculty and administrators, joined by members of the Mansfield Kiwanis Club and other residents spent time on Tuesday, December 16 moving, organizing and wrapping presents for Santa’s Gift Bag from the MU Campus to the Mansfield Fire Hall.
The long-standing community effort, coordinated by MU Campus Minister Courtney Hull, will provide gifts for 137 children in the Mansfield area who might not otherwise receive anything on Christmas.
More than 300 Mansfield students participated in this year’s effort before leaving campus on semester break.
Sponsors, ranging from clubs, organizations and sports teams to individuals, are involved. Some do the actual shopping for gifts the families have requested, while others make financial contributions.
“This truly is a community effort, with people from the campus, the community, churches, organizations and businesses all coming together to make the season a little brighter for those less fortunate,” Hull said.
