Psychology Majors and Alumni Present at Conference

MANSFIELD, PA— Six Mansfield University Psychology majors, along with two alumni, presented their research at the annual Eastern Psychological Association conference, March 5-7 in Philadelphia, PA.(L-R) Erin Ratliff, Katelyn Gavin, Marissa Zerby, Chelsey Gavin , Kaitlyn Meyer,  Annie Dunn.  Rose MacKay  is not pictured.Annie Dunn (Hallstead, PA), Chelsey Gavin (Canisteo NY), Katelyn Gavin (Canisteo NY), Rose MacKay (Mansfield, PA), Kaitlyn Meyer (Sloansville, NY), Erin Ratliff (Spring Grove, PA) and Marissa Zerby (Lock Haven, PA) presented “The Effects of Media Messages and Perspective-Taking on Prejudice Toward Individuals with Mental Illness” under the guidance of Associate Professor Gretchen Sechrist.

MacKay and Meyer graduated in December. All six are members of Psi Chi, the International Honors Society in Psychology. Sechrist is the advisor.(L-R) Kylie Smith, Erin RatliffRatliff and Kylie Smith (Horseheads, NY) worked with Sechrist to present their research on “The Effects of Empathy and Social Exclusion on Prosocial Behavior.”

Ratliff also presented her independent study, supervised by Associate Professor Karri Verno, entitled “The Influence of Attachment Style and Perceived Sexual Attraction on Mate Retention Tactics.”
