Mentors Honored by Female Students

MANSFIELD, PA—Sixteen members of the Mansfield University campus community were honored as outstanding mentors to female students at the annual 15th annual President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) Mentor Celebration on April 2.(L-R) Riley Thomas, Caroline Clough, Marquise Isaac-Rivers, Mary Beth Kollar, Ashley Wray, Kelly Raleigh, Samantha James, Lilace Guignard, Katelyn Gavin, Karri Verno, Erin Ratliff, Gretchen Sechrist, Nicole Lefelhoc, Rachel Roupp, Abby Werlock, Jenna Townsend, Miranda Perry, Collen Devine, Christina Peterson, Shawndra Holderby, Nancy Sidell, Brittnee Lane, Mary Daly, Tiffany Welch, Samantha Boner, Louise Sullivan-Blum, Alyssa Higham.PCSW invited students to nominate someone who has had a significant impact on their lives and who has helped them to become a stronger woman. The event presented the opportunity to celebrate the efforts of those who make exceptional efforts to reach out to students in ways that are many times life changing.

“The purpose of the luncheon is to provide female students with the opportunity to honor and show their appreciation to a member of the Mansfield University community who has influenced them to become a stronger woman,” Gretchen Sechrist, PCSW chair and chair of the Psychology Department, said.

MU Interim Provost Roy Stewart was in attendance and spoke at the luncheon, as did Sechrist.

PCSW was established in 1990 to help educate the campus community in the area of women’s issues, advocate on behalf of women and to keep the President advised of women’s issues related to Mansfield University.
