Andrew Gaskievicz Participates in Holocaust Seminar

MANSFIELD, PA—Andrew Gaskievicz, associate professor of History Andrew Gaskieviczat Mansfield University, participated in the 2015 Silverman Seminar, held June 2-12 at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.

Gaskievicz was one of only 20 faculty from across the country who were selected to participate.

The theme of this year’s seminar was “Teaching the Holocaust: Causes, Course, Consequences.” It was led by Peter Hayes, the Theodore Zev Weiss Holocaust Educational Foundation Professor, Department of History, at Northwestern University.

“Peter Hayes is one of the top Holocaust scholars in the country,” Gaskievicz said. “This will dovetail nicely for me, as I am teaching my Holocaust course (HST 4420: Nazi Germany and the Holocaust) this fall.”

Held annually, the Curt C. and Else Silberman Seminar for Faculty is endowed by the Curt C. and Else Silberman Foundation to support programs in higher education that promote, protect, and strengthen Jewish values in democracy, human rights, ethical leadership and cultural pluralism.
