Family and Friends Weekend set for October 9-10

MANSFIELD, PA—Mansfield University will celebrate Family and Friends Weekend on October 9-10 with a schedule full of concerts, athletic events and activities.

On Friday, October 9 at 8 p.m., Bruce in the USA, the premier Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band tribute band, will perform in concert at Decker Gymnasium. Doors will open at 7 p.m.Bruce in the USAThe concert will feature three 60-minute live sets of the greatest hits of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Decker Gymnasium will feature table and bleacher seating, a dance floor and a complimentary buffet featuring hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Tickets for MU parents, family members, staff, alumni and community members are $10 and can be purchased in person at the Mountie Den (campus bookstore) in Alumni Hall, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Tickets for MU students and their siblings are free and can be picked up daily at the Information Desk in Alumni Hall.

Tickets for the general public are $20 and are available online at tix.com

Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the concert beginning at 7 p.m. All tickets are also good for admission to the football game on Saturday, October 10.

Also on Friday, October 9, the MU Music Department will present its PRISM Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Steadman Theatre.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students. MU students with ID will be admitted free.

Tickets can be ordered online at music.mansfield.edu or by phone at (570)662-4710. Tickets will also be available at the door one hour before each performance but due to the popularity of these concerts, patrons are advised to buy tickets in advance.

All proceeds from the concert benefits the Music Department scholarship fund.

On Saturday, October 10, a tail gate party will be held 1-6:30 p.m. in the area around Allen Hall. Activities will include carnival games, inflatables, Armed Forces challenge games, a student club and organization fair, food and live music.

The music will begin at 1 p.m. with an MU “Battle of the bands.” Philbilly will take the stage for two sets beginning at 2:20 p.m. and at 5:10 p.m., Beatlemania Again will take the stage.

FH videoA historic day at Karl Van Norman Field will begin at 2 p.m. with the Field Hockey Centennial Celebration.

The Mountaineers, coached by Brittany (Kostishion) Hansrote ’09, the first alumna to lead the program in its 100-year history, will take on Kutztown, coached by Marci (Lippert) Scheuing, a 2005 Mansfield graduate, in the Centennial Reunion Game at Karl Van Norman Field.

At 7 p.m. the MU football team will take on Army West Point for LUMA (Light Up Mansfield Again) 2015. Pre-game ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m.
