MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University staff, faculty and administrators, joined by members of the Mansfield Kiwanis Club and other residents spent time on Tuesday, December 15 moving, organizing and wrapping presents for Santa’s Gift Bag.
The long-standing community effort, coordinated by MU Campus Minister Courtney Hull, will provide gifts for 190 children in the Mansfield area who might not otherwise receive anything on Christmas.
Mansfield students participated in the effort before leaving campus on semester break. Sponsors, ranging from clubs, organizations and sports teams to individuals, are involved. Some do the actual shopping for gifts the families have requested, while others make financial contributions.
Students and staff from Holy Family School and New Covenant Academy also staged collection drives.
“People from campus, schools, churches, organizations, businesses and the community have all come together once again to make the season a little brighter for those less fortunate,” Hull said. “This really is a community effort.”
