Ocean Pollution to be Topic of Presentation

MANSFIELD, PA— Jonathan Waterman will present “Plastic Garbage Patch,” an Earth Jonathan WatermanDay multi-media lecture presentation, on Wednesday, April 23, 8 p.m. at North Manser Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Waterman is an adventurer, conservationist, journalist and photographer, His “Plastic Garbage Patch” lecture is based on his 2,500-mile sailing journey from San Diego to Honolulu in 2012. Waterman worked as the ship journalist, photographing and writing up their findings on plastic pollution in the Pacific Ocean.

The hour-long lecture features the author’s storytelling, images, and video about the shocking amount of plastic and Japanese tsunami debris they encountered. In an upbeat and positive fashion, he shows how we can take steps as consumers to work our way out of this crisis.

Waterman has authored 12 books and recognition for his work runs the gambit from magazine awards, to a Special Achievement Award from the National Park Service, to a literary fellowship from the National Endowment for the arts, to an Emmy.
