MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Council of Trustees, upon the recommendation of President Fran Hendricks, granted emeritus status to three retired MU faculty at its May 28 meeting.
Emeritus status was also granted posthumously to Bruce Barton, who passed away in November 2012.
Granted emeritus status and their years of service are:
Bruce Barton, English & Modern Languages, August 1993-November 2012
Flor Blanco, English & Modern Languages, January 1988-May 2013
William Chabala, Psychology/Academic & Human Development, August 1976-May 2013
Judith Sornberger, English & Modern Languages, July 1990-May 2013
Emeritus status is granted to full-time faculty in recognition of dedicated service to Mansfield University. The action was based on the recommendation of the academic departments and Provost David Stinebeck, and followed a poll of senior faculty.
