MANSFIELD, PA — The Mansfield University Music Department will present the Festival Chorus in two performances of Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi and Jazz Gloria by Rob Landes on Saturday, April 13,
Vivaldi’s Gloria, sung in Latin, was composed around 1725 for mixed chorus with trumpet, oboe, strings, and keyboard accompaniment. The Jazz Gloria, composed by Landes in 1994, will be sung in English and features piano, bass, and drums. They will offer a great contrast between the settings of the same text.
The performances, conducted by Peggy Dettwiler, will feature music students and one alumnus in the Music Department: sopranos, Jessica Neidinger, Shannon Pizzirusso, and Cassie Zinkan, and Donavan Darienzo, Counter-Tenor. Mansfield University faculty, Susan Laib and Jeffrey Jacobsen, are performing in the instrumental ensemble.
