MANSFIELD, PA— Mary Daly, assistant professor of Social Work and interim director of the Social Work Program at Mansfield University, has been awarded the national Phi Alpha Honor Society Advisor of the Year Award.
Presented at the annual program meeting of the Council on Social Work Education held in Tampa, FL, the award honors one outstanding chapter advisor each year.
Daly was nominated by the local chapter of Phi Alpha. In her nomination, MU student Sarah Rava wrote of Daly’s commitment to students and her encouragement to chapter members.
In addition to receiving a plaque, Daly received a $1,000 travel grant to attend the meeting and was honored at the Phi Alpha Annual Business Meeting.
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
