Comedian Aziz Ansari coming to MU

MANSFIELD, PA— Comedian Aziz Ansari will bring his “Modern Aziz Ansari 1Romance” tour to Decker Gymnasium  on Sunday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

One of the stars of the tht NBC comedy Parks and Recreation, Ansari is also one of the hottest stand-up comedians working today. His last tour, Dangerously Delicious, in the summer of 2013 sold out many of the venues he performed at.

On Parks and Recreation, now in its sixth season, Ansari plays Tom Haverford, Amy Poehler’s sarcastic and underachieving subordinate who considers himself an entrepreneur.

In addition to his TV and stand-up work, Ansari has appeared in several feature films, including Funny People, I Love You, Man, Observe and Report, and 30 Minutes or Less.

“Azi Ansari is one of today’s hottest stand-up comedians, selling out larger theatres and performing arts venues across the entire country,” Steve Plesac, director of Student Activities and Student Programming, said. “We began the process of trying to confirm a concert date with him for Mansfield back in June of 2013, and our persistence has finally paid off and will soon bring great dividends to the campus and surrounding communities in the way of a great evening of top-notch entertainment. We are so very pleased to be able to bring this big name talent to our students, the MU community and all our good friends and neighbors in the surrounding communities of Pennsylvania and New York”. 

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 5 at the MU Campus Bookstore in Alumni Hall, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. or on-line at mansfield.tix.com   

Tickets are $5 for MU students, $15 for MU employees and alumni and $25 for the general public.

All tickets are general admission, with limited floor seating and bleacher seating.

The concert is sponsored by the Mansfield Activities Council (MAC) and the Student Activities Office (SAO). It is supported by student activity fees.
