MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University President Fran Hendricks awarded the Presidential Coin for Excellence to sophomore Kimberly Scully at the Student Government Association meeting on April 28.
Scully, a Biology major from Barnegat, NJ, chaired Mansfield’s successful Relay for Life on April 17-18. The event raised $21,215.99 for the American Cancer Society.
This was Scully’s first year serving as Mansfield’s chair but she has been involved with Relay for Life for many years due to her father, grandmother and a close family friend being diagnosed with cancer.
Among her other activities, Scully is involved in Colleges against Cancer and is a member of Phi Sigma Pi honors fraternity.
The coin was developed by Hendricks and designed by MU Publications Director Andy Worthington. It is awarded selectively to persons who have contributed greatly to the university, using the Mansfield Creed; Character, Scholarship, Culture and Service as a guideline.
The coin bears several symbols representing historical highlights and other aspects of the university that make it distinctive.
